About Me
Christine Fox, MA, Dip Psychotherapy, Dip Counselling, Dip Supervision

I originate from a background in nursing and it was as a nurse many years ago that I first became aware of the power of talking and human relationship. In 1995, following two years as a volunteer on a national crisis helpline, I decided to train as a counsellor. Following the completion of some basic counselling training I then trained as a psychotherapist.
Theoretical Orientation
My main counselling and psychotherapy training was at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in North London where I graduated first as a therapeutic counsellor and then as a psychotherapist. From the many psychological theories I had researched I chose psychosynthesis because it acknowledges all levels of human experience including the body and the transpersonal and has the ability to be very flexible in approach.
Aim
My aim is to help you by offering the highest possible standard of practice. This aim is supported by my commitment to my own supervision and to my ongoing professional and personal development. If after meeting you I feel your needs would be best met by another therapist I will discuss this with you and help you with the referral.
Experience
I have been working in private practice since 1999 and for two years during this time I also worked as a volunteer counsellor at a centre for women. For the past 6 years I have combined private practice with work in the NHS and for a charitable organisation. I have worked in an acute hospital setting and in hospices with adults and children suffering from life threatening and life limiting illnesses. I have the experience of setting up and developing a counselling service and also of coordinating a bereavement service.
